4th Edition of Dubai Otology Begins this Wednesday
“Hands-on cadaveric pre-conference workshops Start today at Sharjah University”
Dubai – United Arab Emirates, 9th of October, 2016: Under the patronage of H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention in the UAE, the 4th edition of the Dubai Otology, Neurotology & Skull Base Surgery Conference & Exhibition is slated to begin this Wednesday 12th of October, 2016 at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center in Dubai Healthcare City.
Prior to the 4th edition of Dubai Otology, the hands-on cadaveric pre-conference workshops start today at the Sharjah Surgical Institute in Sharjah University, and will continue until 11th of October, 2016. These workshops will feature the Basic & Advanced Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Basic Temporal Bone Dissection Course and Anterior Skull Base Surgery.
Commenting about the importance of these workshops, Dr. Ahmed Alamadi, Consultant Otologist & Neurotologist and Medical Director at Al Baraha Hospital, and the Dubai Otology Conference Chairman, said: “Cadaveric workshops have been an integral part of our conference since its inception. They are considered the most important tool for developing and improving one’s surgical skills in the field of otology and neurotology.”
Dr. Alamadi continued on saying: “This year, we have resident neurosurgeons registered for the workshop who will be trained on cadavers for different approaches to the skull base. They will also learn the detailed anatomy of this complex area.”
On the other hand, Dubai Otology conference is set to attract over 55 prominent speakers, ENT specialists, surgeons, otolaryngologists, otologists, neurologists, audiologists, trainees, nurses and students from 33 countries. The three-day conference will address the major issues and topics related to otology, neurotology & skull base surgery. These conference topics will include the recent developments in Cholesteatoma, Mastoidectomy, Tympanoplasty, Facial Nerve, Ossiculoplasty, Stapes Surgery, Vestibular Schwannoma, Cochlear Implant, Implantable Hearing Aids, Auditory Brainstem Implant, Vertigo, Skull Base Surgery and The Future of Otology & Neurotology.
In addition to that, for the first time, Dubai Otology 2016 will feature a three-day masterclass on head impulse that will run parallel with the main conference & exhibition from 12th to 14th October. This masterclass will allow hands-on experience mechanism of head impulse testing conducted by skilled instructors.
It is worth mentioning that the conference this year offers its participants and attendees the chance to earn more than 40 CME Credit Hours, accredited by the Ministry of Health, UAE. While it helps to improve doctors’ practice and care of patients, accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME), is also necessary to renew physicians’ professional licenses in the UAE.
Running alongside the conference, the three-day exhibition will put to display the most up-to-date equipment, tools, and products showcased by leading local and international companies.
