His Excellency Dr. Youssif Al Serkal inaugurates 5th Dubai Otology Conference & Exhibition

His Excellency Dr. Youssif Al Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Sector at the UAE’s Ministry of Health & Prevention, inaugurated today Wednesday 11th of October 2017 the fifth edition of Dubai Otology, Neurotology & Skull Base Surgery Conference & Exhibition. The event, described by experts as “the most specialized medical event of its kind in the Middle East region”, is held in the period 11th to 13th October 2017 at Mohammed bin Rashid Academic Medical Center in Dubai’s Healthcare City.

Dr. Al Serkal graced the opening ceremony by cutting the inauguration ribbon, accompanied by Conference Chairman Dr. Ahmed Alamadi, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Chairman of INDEX Holding, Mr. Aiman Al Madani, CEO, Finance and Administration, at INDEX Holding  alongside a number of officials representing various government entities, international otology & neurotology specialists, members of the press, medical students, nurses and invited local and foreign dignitaries. This was followed by a tour of the accompanying exhibition, in which the latest ENT-related technologies were displayed.

Dr. Al Serkal said in his conference inauguration speech, “We at the Ministry of Health & Prevention confirm our solid supportive stance of everyone who works in this field which we consider to be National Work, especially as they provide high-caliber and healthcare services that are capable of competing in this highly competitive field”. He added that this comes “as the realization of the vision of the UAE’s Wise Leadership for the future of advancement in medical practice and the advancement and upgrading of comprehensive healthcare services”.

Conference Chairman, Consultant Otologist & Neurotologist, Medical Director of Al Baraha Hospital, Dr. Alamadi stated: “The Dubai Otology Conference & Exhibition is rapidly gaining ground as a gathering of specialist experts of otology and neurotology, and also as an advanced learning platform in which even the experts can learn.”

He added: “This year the conference will be discussing prominent topics in the field such as facial nerve disorders, stapes surgery, mastoid surgery, implant surgery, ossiculopasty, tympanoplasty and skull base surgery”.

On the global prominence of the Dubai Otology Conference & Exhibition, Mr. Aiman Al Madani said: “INDEX has been proudly organizing the Dubai Otology Conference & Exhibition ever since its first edition back in 2013, in close coordination with the Minister of Health & Prevention, and every year we are delighted to witness the conference growing in its regional and international status and firmly consolidating its position on the world map of highly specialized medical events and exhibitions.”

He added: “This year we have over 40 regional and international exhibitors representing global high-tech manufacturers from more than 28 countries,” and he announced, “Some products are being revealed at the exhibition for the first time in the region”.

It is worth mentioning that Dubai Otology gives medical professionals the opportunity to earn 48.5 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points accredited by the Dubai Health Authority. CPD points, apart from adding experience to doctors, also act as pre-requisites for renewal of medical practicing license in the UAE.

Dubai Otology Conference & Exhibition is held under the patronage of H.E. Abdul-Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health & Prevention, and is organized by INDEX Conferences & Exhibitions in coordination with international bodies like the Arab Academy of Otology & Cochlear Implant (AOOCI), and the UAE-India Business Council.
