He then founded the first governmental cochlear implant program in UAE in Mafraq hospital in 2008. He was involved in doing almost 1000 implants in Germany, Egypt, and UAE.

Dr Ahmad is Cochlear Implant Programme Director and Consultant Surgeon in otology, neurotology and skullbase surgery in STMC/Tawam Hospitals, Al Ain and James Cook University Hospital, UK. With over 2 decades of UK training and working experience, including fellowships in the USA, Canada and Australia, he has a rare dual qualification (Masters with Distinction) in Audiology from UCL. He is Council Member of the British Skull Base Society, regularly lecturing internationally on skull base, CI and otology, as well as writing chapters for textbooks. He has performed hundreds of auditory implants. In 2022 he broke the world record for a CI procedure in a 103-year old and the first-ever subtotal petrousectomy under LA. He is Founding-Director of the world’s largest charity CI programme and Chairman of the GCC Expert Panel on Adult Cochlear Implantation. He is one of the top medicolegal ENT experts recognised by the Courts in the UK.

Dr. Baher Ashour Biography Consultant Otolaryngologist baashour@ssbzh.ae Dr. Baher Ashour is a Consultant Otolaryngologist with over 25 years of experience in the field. He currently works at Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, formerly Zayed Military Hospital, Sharjah, UAE. He was previously the Head of the ENT Department at SEHA Ambulatory Healthcare Services, Abu Dhabi. He is also an Assistant Professor at Cairo University. He graduated from Cairo University Medical School in 1996. This was followed by a 3-year residency program at Cairo University hospitals during which he earned a master’s degree in ENT surgery. In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious Chevening scholarship by the British Government to study the effects of noise on hearing and wellbeing. During this time, he obtained a master’s degree in Audiology for ENT practice from the University of London and trained at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in London. In 2009, he earned his MD degree from Cairo University. in 2011, he became a fellow of the European Board of Otolaryngology. He is an active member of the international Working Group for Endoscopic Ear Surgery, The European Academy of Otology and Neurotology and The Middle East Academy of Otorhinolaryngology. During his work at Zayed Military Hospital, he gained experience in diving and aviation medicine related to otolaryngology and the management of acoustic trauma, noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus. As a member of the International Working Group for Endoscopic Ear Surgery, he has extensive experience in this technique which provides minimally invasive ear surgery allowing for less postoperative pain and shorter recovery times. He has regularly presented in international conferences and demonstrated in otologic surgery workshops in the UAE, Germany and Egypt

My name is Prof. Dr. med. Omid Majdani, and I am a highly experienced otolaryngologist with over 25 years of clinical, surgical, and academic expertise. I was born on April 26, 1971, in Tehran, Iran, and I immigrated to Germany in 1985, where I have built my professional and personal life. Today, I am a German citizen and reside with my family in Hanover. Since 2016 I am the chair of the Department of Otolyrangology, Head and Neck Surgery and Plastic Surgery at Campus Wolfsburg / University Medicine Göttingen. Academic and Professional Background I completed my medical studies at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. In 2002, I earned my doctorate (magna cum laude) from the Free University of Berlin with a dissertation focusing on the biomechanical analysis of bone implants. In 2010, I completed my habilitation at the Medical University of Hanover (MHH), where I conducted groundbreaking research on robot-assisted and navigation-guided cochlear implant surgery. Currently, I serve as the Chief Physician of the Department of Otolaryngology at Campus Wolfsburg / University Medicine Göttingen. Prior to this, I held several senior roles, including Managing Senior Physician and Head Senior Physician at Hannover Medical School. Additionally, I contribute to the Excellence Cluster “Hearing4all” in Hannover as a research collaborator.

Dr Mohamed Elsayed completed his medical degree with distinction at the Alexandria University in Egypt. He joined the residency program at ENT department, Alexandria University. Then completed an extensive 4-year otology- Neurotology fellowship at the Pitié-Salpêtrière University Hospital in Paris, France. In 2020, he successfully obtained his PhD degree from Sorbonne university, France in advanced ear and lateral skull base surgery. Afterwards, Dr Mohamed returned to Egypt where he joined the Alexandria university ENT department, starting his position as an associate professor in Otology unit after obtaining his second MD-PhD degree in otolaryngology from Alexandria University. He has been also actively involved in the training and teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students.

He is a former director of the Durban Cochlear Implant Program and holds academic positions in the Department of ENT at the University of Kwazulu Natal as well as the department of Audiology, Speech and Language Pathology at the University of Pretoria. He has delivered more than 40 academic presentations and is published in international, peer reviewed journals. He is a recognised reviewer for the International Journal of Pediatric. Dr. Baher Ashour Biography Consultant Otolaryngologist baashour@ssbzh.ae Dr. Baher Ashour is a Consultant Otolaryngologist with over 25 years of experience in the field. He currently works at Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, formerly Zayed Military Hospital, Sharjah, UAE. He was previously the Head of the ENT Department at SEHA Ambulatory Healthcare Services, Abu Dhabi. He is also an Assistant Professor at Cairo University. He graduated from Cairo University Medical School in 1996. This was followed by a 3-year residency program at Cairo University hospitals during which he earned a master’s degree in ENT surgery. In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious Chevening scholarship by the British Government to study the effects of noise on hearing and wellbeing. During this time, he obtained a master’s degree in Audiology for ENT practice from the University of London and trained at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in London. In 2009, he earned his MD degree from Cairo University. in 2011, he became a fellow of the European Board of Otolaryngology. He is an active member of the international Working Group for Endoscopic Ear Surgery, The European Academy of Otology and Neurotology and The Middle East Academy of Otorhinolaryngology. During his work at Zayed Military Hospital, he gained experience in diving and aviation medicine related to otolaryngology and the management of acoustic trauma, noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus. As a member of the International Working Group for Endoscopic Ear Surgery, he has extensive experience in this technique which provides minimally invasive ear surgery allowing for less postoperative pain and shorter recovery times. He has regularly presented in international conferences and demonstrated in otologic surgery workshops in the UAE, Germany and Egypt

Dr. Vishal Pawar is a neurologist with over 12 years of clinical experience, currently practicing at Unicare Medical Center, Dubai. He has established and led one of the region’s first dedicated Vertigo Clinics run by a Neurologist He has treated more than 4,500 patients with vestibular disorders in Dubai and over 20,000 neurology patients overall. He is proficient in advanced vestibular diagnostics including video-oculography, video-head impulse testing, caloric testing, functional head impulse, dynamic visual acuity and posturography, with expertise in both central and peripheral vestibular disorders, canalith repositioning procedures, and vestibular rehabilitation therapy. Dr. Pawar is an active academic, with 38 publications and more than 150 educational contributions as keynote speaker, panelist, and instructor at national and international conferences. He holds multiple advanced certifications including the European Board of Neurology Fellowship and the International Vestibular Diploma. His research has focused on vestibular medicine, stroke, and headache disorders, and he has received several awards including the Best Medical Researcher Award (2022) and the Clinical & Academic Excellence Award (2023).

Christophe Vincent is at the head of the department of Otology and Otoneurology in Lille (France). He completed a PhD in Neurosciences on genetics of deafness both in Lille and Paris (Institut PASTEUR). His activity covers all fields of otology and neurotology, i.e. middle ear surgery, cochlear implants, disabled patients with vertigo, and cerebellopontine angle tumors. In the latter field, he acquired a high experience of management of NF2 patients, both for tumor surgery, in particular through the middle fossa approach in adults as well as in children, and for hearing rehabilitation, specifically with cochlear implant and auditory brainstem implants.

My name is Prof. Dr. med. Omid Majdani, and I am a highly experienced otolaryngologist with over 25 years of clinical, surgical, and academic expertise. I was born on April 26, 1971, in Tehran, Iran, and I immigrated to Germany in 1985, where I have built my professional and personal life. Today, I am a German citizen and reside with my family in Hanover. Since 2016 I am the chair of the Department of Otolyrangology, Head and Neck Surgery and Plastic Surgery at Campus Wolfsburg / University Medicine Göttingen. Academic and Professional Background I completed my medical studies at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. In 2002, I earned my doctorate (magna cum laude) from the Free University of Berlin with a dissertation focusing on the biomechanical analysis of bone implants. In 2010, I completed my habilitation at the Medical University of Hanover (MHH), where I conducted groundbreaking research on robot-assisted and navigation-guided cochlear implant surgery. Currently, I serve as the Chief Physician of the Department of Otolaryngology at Campus Wolfsburg / University Medicine Göttingen. Prior to this, I held several senior roles, including Managing Senior Physician and Head Senior Physician at Hannover Medical School. Additionally, I contribute to the Excellence Cluster “Hearing4all” in Hannover as a research collaborator.

Dr Ahmad is Cochlear Implant Programme Director and Consultant Surgeon in otology, neurotology and skullbase surgery in STMC/Tawam Hospitals, Al Ain and James Cook University Hospital, UK. With over 2 decades of UK training and working experience, including fellowships in the USA, Canada and Australia, he has a rare dual qualification (Masters with Distinction) in Audiology from UCL. He is Council Member of the British Skull Base Society, regularly lecturing internationally on skull base, CI and otology, as well as writing chapters for textbooks. He has performed hundreds of auditory implants. In 2022 he broke the world record for a CI procedure in a 103-year old and the first-ever subtotal petrousectomy under LA. He is Founding-Director of the world’s largest charity CI programme and Chairman of the GCC Expert Panel on Adult Cochlear Implantation. He is one of the top medicolegal ENT experts recognised by the Courts in the UK.

He is a former director of the Durban Cochlear Implant Program and holds academic positions in the Department of ENT at the University of Kwazulu Natal as well as the department of Audiology, Speech and Language Pathology at the University of Pretoria. He has delivered more than 40 academic presentations and is published in international, peer reviewed journals. He is a recognised reviewer for the International Journal of Pediatric. Dr Schlemmer is a South African ENT surgeon with a particular interest in otology, neurotology and lateral skull base surgery. He is a former director of the Durban Cochlear Implant Program and holds academic positions in the Department of ENT at the University of Kwazulu Natal as well as the department of Audiology, Speech and Language Pathology at the University of Pretoria. He has delivered more than 40 academic presentations and is published in international, peer reviewed journals. He is a recognised reviewer for the International Journal of Pediatric. Otorhinolaryngology and is on the international editorial board of Cochlear Implants International. Dr Schlemmer is currently working as a consultant ENT surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi

Dr. Jamal Kassouma, serves as a distinguished Consultant ENT surgeon and stands as the Director of the Cochlear Implant Unit at Dubai H, UAE. He holds the position of Head of Department at Al Zahra Private Hospital and carries the esteemed roles of Associate Professor at both Damascus University in Syria and Dubai Medical College. A trailblazer, he introduced cochlear implant surgery in Syria back in 2002 and has since conducted approximately 1865 cochlear implantations in Syria and the UAE combined. Dr. Kassouma is recognized as a pioneering traveling cochlear implant surgeon across various countries. His accolades include being named the Middle East Doctor of the Year in 2009 and 2022 for his profound impact on the Deaf Community, as well as receiving the Ibn El Balad Award from Syria in 2005 and the Distinguished Employee award from Dubai Health Authority in 2017, presented by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid AL Maktoum.

Professor of Otorhinolaryngology and Head of the Otology and Otoneurology Department
Christophe Vincent is at the head of the department of Otology and Otoneurology in Lille (France). He completed a PhD in Neurosciences on genetics of deafness both in Lille and Paris (Institut PASTEUR). His activity covers all fields of otology and neurotology, i.e. middle ear surgery, cochlear implants, disabled patients with vertigo, and cerebellopontine angle tumors. In the latter field, he acquired a high experience of management of NF2 patients, both for tumor surgery, in particular through the middle fossa approach in adults as well as in children, and for hearing rehabilitation, specifically with cochlear implant and auditory brainstem implants.

Dr Mohamed Elsayed completed his medical degree with distinction at the Alexandria University in Egypt. He joined the residency program at ENT department, Alexandria University. Then completed an extensive 4-year otology- Neurotology fellowship at the Pitié-Salpêtrière University Hospital in Paris, France. In 2020, he successfully obtained his PhD degree from Sorbonne university, France in advanced ear and lateral skull base surgery. Afterwards, Dr Mohamed returned to Egypt where he joined the Alexandria university ENT department, starting his position as an associate professor in Otology unit after obtaining his second MD-PhD degree in otolaryngology from Alexandria University. He has been also actively involved in the training and teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students.

Dr Ahmad is Cochlear Implant Programme Director and Consultant Surgeon in otology, neurotology and skullbase surgery in STMC/Tawam Hospitals, Al Ain and James Cook University Hospital, UK. With over 2 decades of UK training and working experience, including fellowships in the USA, Canada and Australia, he has a rare dual qualification (Masters with Distinction) in Audiology from UCL. He is Council Member of the British Skull Base Society, regularly lecturing internationally on skull base, CI and otology, as well as writing chapters for textbooks. He has performed hundreds of auditory implants. In 2022 he broke the world record for a CI procedure in a 103-year old and the first-ever subtotal petrousectomy under LA. He is Founding-Director of the world’s largest charity CI programme and Chairman of the GCC Expert Panel on Adult Cochlear Implantation. He is one of the top medicolegal ENT experts recognised by the Courts in the UK.
